Nitrous Oxide has been in use for over 150 years as medical gas. The inhalation agent has been extensively studied, with decades of safe clinical use documented in minimal to moderate pain relief regimens. Nitrous therapy can be helpful in relatively short-duration, painful, distressing procedures and is routinely used to support cases conducted outside the OR.
SEDARA is a gas mixing system that provides a consistent and controlled delivery of 50% oxygen and 50% Nitrous Oxide in a closed circuit, demand driven system. The preset blend of each gas replaces the complexity and risks of titration with the safety and consistency of fixed dosing.
SEDARA™ is a very sensitive, but robust, device designed to support relatively short-duration painful cases for adult & select pediatric patients. However, we look to your clinical expertise to help define the specific applications that are best served by the System and the Nitrous therapy it delivers.

The New FDA Safety and Innovation Act, which was signed into law effective July 2012, includes a new provision for medical gases that provides a certification process that will result in an approval of nitrous oxide with an indication for use as an analgesic.
